Model Predictive Torque Control for Permanent- Magnet Synchronous Motors Using a Stator- Fixed Harmonic Flux Reference Generator in the Entire Modulation Range

To increase torque and power conversion of permanent-magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) at high-speed operation, the dc-link voltage inverter must be fully utilized during steady-state transient operations. This article proposes incorporation a harmonic reference generator (HRG) with pulse clipping (PC) scheme into model predictive control framework to achieve highest output. The HRG calculates flux references in stator-fixed coordinate system for an underlying continuous-control-set model-predictive (CCS-MPFC). These trajectories contain component induced by hexagon overmodulation range specific switching states (e.g., six-step operation) are ensured proposed PC scheme. enables seamless transition including operation increases drive's its maximum extent. Since differential equation system, used as motor CCS-MPFC, is able represent PMSMs linear nonlinear magnetization, approach well suited magnetization. Extensive experimental investigations on highly PMSM entire modulation speed prove performance approach.
